We celebrated our 20th birthday in a befitting manner, organising a very special FEMYSO20 Gala in no better place than the birthplace of FEMYSO, Stockholm, Sweden.
It was here where young Muslims across Europe gathered together, and identified the need for a unifying organisation, that serves and represents young European Muslims. 20 years from then, the organisation now stands at 33 Member Organisations, from 20 different countries, a diverse executive committee from the United Kingdom to Bosnia and Herzegovina, developing Member Organisations, connecting them together, and fighting for the rights of young Muslims.
The GALA saw Member Organisations participate in not only a fancy 3 course meal (which was all completely vegetarian!) but also saw young leaders come together to shape the future of FEMYSO, taking part in sessions dedicated to planning the long-term strategy of the organisation. This was then topped off with performances by Islamic music group from the UK Common Souls, and also for the first of its kind; the European Muslim Youth Awards (EMYA) where we celebrate the outstanding achievements, and special recognitions by our Member Organisation in their contributions towards a positive Europe. 20 years since its birth, FEMYSO is as strong as ever, and is growing as we look to the future, as we work towards a more diverse, cohesive, and vibrant Europe.
