INSTITUTIONAL RELATIONS

FEMYSO is the voice of Muslim youth by representing effectively its member organisations in all spheres of European life, from social to political, private to public. 

FEMYSO is committed to advocating for youth rights, as well fighting prejudice and discrimination at all levels so that the future of Europe is realised as a multicultural, inclusive and respectful society, in which all people can work together to create a peaceful and prosperous community. 

Arab League

Department of Youth and Sports

The Department of Youth and Sports at the Arab League is responsible for initiatives around youth development and empowerment which includes cooperating with international institutions and youth organisations. The Arab League partners with the Council of Europe to organise an annual Euro-Arab Youth Forum which FEMYSO have participated at various editions.

European Parliament

(EP)

The European Parliament is one of three legislative branches of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Together with the Council of the European Union, it adopts European legislation, commonly on the proposal of the European Commission. FEMYSO engages with MEPs, relevant units working on youth, as well groups such as Anti-racism and Diversity Intergroup (ARDI).

OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights

(OSCE ODIHR)

The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) provides support, assistance and expertise to participating States and civil society to promote democracy, rule of law, human rights and tolerance and non-discrimination. ODIHR observes elections, reviews legislation and advises governments on how to develop and sustain democratic institutions. The Office conducts training programmes for government and law-enforcement officials and non-governmental organisations on how to uphold, promote and monitor human rights.

Council of Europe

(CoE)

The Council of Europe (CoE) is an international organisation founded in the wake of World War II to uphold human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Europe. FEMYSO is currently represented on the Advisory Council on Youth (ACoY) of the CoE for the mandate 2020-2021. FEMYSO also engages with various bodies of the CoE such as European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), European Youth Foundation (EYF), and Conference of INGOs.

European Youth Foundation

(EYF)

The European Youth Foundation (EYF) is a fund established in 1972 by the Council of Europe to provide financial and educational support for European youth activities. Only youth NGOs from Council of Europe member states as well as the European Cultural Convention Signatories: Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Holy See, can apply to the Foundation. It is a division in the Youth Department of the Council of Europe’s Directorate of Democratic Participation, Directorate General of Democracy.

Presidency of the Council of the European Union

The presidency of the Council of the European Union is responsible for the functioning of the Council of the European Union, the upper house of the EU legislature. It rotates among the member states of the EU every six months.

European Commission

(EC)

The European Commission (EC) is the executive branch of the European Union, responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the EU treaties and managing the day-to-day business of the EU. FEMYSO engages with the EC on different fronts including being consulted regularly by the EC’s Anti-Muslim Hatred coordinator.

Fundamental Rights Agency

(FRA)

European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) is the independent centre of reference and excellence for promoting and protecting human rights in the EU. FRA help make Europe a better place to live and work. We help defend the fundamental rights of all people living in the EU.

United Nations - Human Rights Commissioner

(UNHRC)

The United Nations (UN) is an intergovernmental organization that aims to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations, achieve international cooperation, and be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations. FEMYSO mainly engages with the UN Human Rights Council whose mission is to promote and protect human rights around the world.
